2.28.14

Yesterday was absolutely crazy in a wonderful way! So, where should I start? I began my day with a realization that I needed about $200 extra dollars pronto! I needed it by the next day (today). So I prayed about it and immediately the thought of doing a really big sale came to mind. I'm sure this was God's way of telling me what do to. So I decided to do a one day only sale where everything was 40% off. I had thought about posting it on facebook, but I have never really gotten a ton of response from fb so I just started texting my customers. I said,"Hey Mary, I'm doing a 1 day sale today only and I wanted to tell you about it. Everything is 40% off until 11:59pm tonight! If there is anything u need or want I would say today is the day! :)" I wasn't really sure what to expect, but I figured I might get at least a couple of orders. In total from that sale, I got 7 orders, which surprised me.  Then last night I had a party with 3 girls and made $149 and I also booked all three for a phone interview. My total in sales for the entire day was $582.80!!! Plus I booked 2
new appointments. I completed 2 hours of my 4 hour plan, but the only reason I was unable to do more, was because I didn't manage my time well since I did the one day sale. I should have started right away on my work, so that when I decided to do the one day sale, it wouldn't have cut into my 4 hours.  However, I'm constantly learning, and I'll never fail because I'll never give up!

So today I will not be doing any of the 4 hour plan, but I still have some facials tonight and don't think for a moment I haven't been busy doing MK. I sure have, but unfortunately today I had to get some non-income producing activities done.  So, I will let ya'll know how tonight goes, and until then have a fabulous day!

The Weekend

What a busy weekend I had. Saturday I did 5 facials and afterwards I spent the rest of my day with my family. I did $53 in sales and I scheduled an interview. Sunday was packed with family/church events. Monday I had a party at 11am and I had 4 girls there and did $127 in sales. I have also got 42 new leads from referrals in total from this weekend. I also did an interview Monday night that went well, and I'll be
checking back in with her soon to follow up. Overall, I stayed pretty busy and today I was with my mom at the hospital as she had a day surgery procedure. (Everything went well with that.) Tomorrow is my husbands birthday so I have nothing on my calendar and I will not be doing any work. That means that I can focus on him tomorrow and then Thursday I will focus on my four hour plan!! I also have an appointment Thursday evening for a party and Friday as well. I'm excited as these facials are taking me farther in my business and this 4 hour plan has been very important in keeping my business running more like it should.

I'm going to make this entry very fast because I am getting ready to do some facials this morning and I'll be out for the rest of the day doing facials at different times.

Yesterday I went to another day care to hand out flowers and enter women for a chance to win the gift basket. Something that I learned from, was to make sure that you are not dealing with an in home day care. I didn't realize this was an in home day care until I was on my way. They were very nice, but there were only 5 kids total and I spent 2 hours there and got 3 new leads. So anyone who is planning on doing the day care thing, know that I think it's fabulous, however you have to make sure that it's not an in home day care for the maximum results. 

After I left there, I went home and began calling the mom's from the first day care and I got 10 bookings in two hours!! Wow! Let me just tell you that I think the ratio of women who actually booked from this was tremendous and totally worth stepping outside of my comfort zone to go get new leads in person instead of buying them from an online source (which i have done before).  Keep that in mind when you are deciding how to get some new leads.

New Leads

Although yesterday was sort of supposed to be my other day off, I still worked some because I already had appointments setup. I went to another day care and handed out flowers, entered them in the drawing and I wound up with 36 new leads! Some places will be better than others, because the first day care
that I did last Wednesday, I bought at least 50 flowers and got 27 leads. The day care I went to yesterday, I bought about 36 flowers and got 36 leads! Although I've only been to two, I'd say it may also have to do with the day care staff as well. The lady at the front desk was awesome yesterday! Once I told her she could enter for the basket as well, she did and then took several and made sure to get every worker to enter too. She also encouraged parents to enter as they were walking in the door before I could even see them. Overall it was great and I have another day care that I'll be going to today as well.

I also got 1 new booking yesterday from someone I had talked to on Tuesday.

I'm about to hit the ground running!!! Go out and make an impact today!

Refferals/Bookings

Yesterday after listening to the coaching training, I started thinking about how I could get started using that now. I have plenty of bookings that are single or even double facials from referrals. So I started thinking about Tammy's coaching scripts which you can get from that same audio training. The link is in the prior journal entry. I started to think about how I could do this with referrals, and I currently use a text booking script that I really like and I decided to change it into a phone call and this is what I've come up with so far.....
Is this Mary? You don't know me but I did a facial with Jane Smith and my name is Amy. I am in need of a favor and she said you were really nice and might help me out. I am in a contest with Mary Kay to do 60 free makeovers this month! Could I borrow your face? I am not pushy and it's super fast and fun!  (wait for answer)  
(This next part is where Tammy's script starts and I've changed it a tad to match the situation)
Sure: Great, so Mary, we can do this one of two ways, if you want to do this privately, I do my individual facials on (Saturday mornings) or if you want to do it with friends at your house or mine & these are the options I have for those dates. 
With friends: Great, then let me tell you what I'm offering my hostesses (explain your hostess plan). (Then continue with Tammy's script) Mary, I'm really excited to help you get that (Brush set) for free, and that is truly my number one goal......(The rest of the script is on her audio training). 

This just helped me see how I could take referrals and change them into a bigger opportunity. I attempted it once via text, but I'm thinking that's just not a great way to do this. She told me that she didn't know very many people, so I still booked her for an individual facial, but I decided that I would need to call for the best results. 

So yesterday I got a new booking and today I'll finish talking to another girl that decided her date later last night after I was done for the day. 

Today is my husband's day off so I will be doing minimal work. I can't wait to tell you how my day care leads go tonight!

"The Decision" & Coaching

I'm so excited! For a while I've been doing this 4 hour plan (not perfectly) and although I had made "the decision" to do this 4 hour plan, I had not made "the decision" to become a director. Those who have made "the decision" at some point in their career understand what I'm talking about. This is that change in your mindset that says, I am going to make this happen no matter what. It's already happened, now I just have to do whatever it takes to see that. I didn't realize until yesterday that I hadn't actually made that decision to become a director. I made that decision once before and that was what led me to DIQ, however after I didn't finish DIQ, it's taken me a while to get back to this point. I feel it's important to make sure that you know, my story is different from yours, and every person has a different path that gets them to their dreams. There are women who are directors within a few months of being in MK and there are women who have taken years to do the same. So, keep that in mind, because it doesn't have to take you as long, and if it's been a while, you are still fully capable of making it happen.  So woo hoo! I'm excited because I now know that this will be in my very near future with my faith in God guiding me!

Now, something that I know I have been lacking in....Coaching. I have not been coaching the way I should be; the right way. So today as a part of my growth I listened to Tammy Crayk's coaching audio that's on her website. I took 6 pages of notes which included her scripts. If you haven't listened to this in a while or if you feel as though you could use some brushing up in that area, I recommend listening to it, because I now feel even more excited about how I'm going to make Directorship my reality!

The last thing that I wanted to share is about the tracking sheet that I've been using this month for my faces. In the past, I'd just pull up any facial tracking sheet I could find online and use it, however I found one that I'm using this month that I will now use every month! You're probably wondering why. Well, before I just wanted something to put their name and mark off a face (I like pictures on my tracking sheets). This month I am using one that not only has a picture, but a place for their name, amount purchased, if I booked them, and if I interviewed them. Since I am really serious about the 4 hour plan and becoming a director, this is going to be crucial. I will be able to figure my $ per facial average easily, I will be able to go back and see who I haven't booked and go book them for their 2nd appointment, and see who I haven't interviewed and setup a time to interview them. This will make sure that I can easily see all opportunities on one tracking sheet instead of depending upon notes on my profile cards or notes on my calendar. I'm loving it already, because it also helps with time management. I can get things done faster because I don't have to hunt, it's all right there for me.

Well, I've gotta go get busy on my full 4 hours today! I cannot wait to share the results of my day!

Monday Interviews

Yesterday I had two interviews on the phone and since my son was home all day sick, I was so thankful that my director was able to do the first one, and for the second one my son was sleeping, which was perfect! 

I want to rewind a bit for those who don't know me. I have done interviews on my own, in person and on the phone, many times. I have gotten great guidance from my director, Lisa Reimer, so that I could start building the confidence to do them without her. At this point, I can't even count the number of interviews I've done. 

Yesterday, when I did the second interview, I was following the interview sheet from Sean Key, "The 4 KEY Questions".  As I looked at the first question, "Tell me a little more about yourself (i.e., family, job, hobbies, etc.)" I was thinking to myself, I just did a facial with her, so I know those answers already, so I skipped over the first two questions. As I continued through the interview, It felt awkward to me. She wasn't a big talker, and I didn't seem to know what to say. That was not like me at all, and like I said, I've done many interviews myself before and felt like they went great, even if they didn't result in a new team member. After the interview I discussed my feelings and how it went with my director, and she gave me some advice that I think may be very helpful to others as well. When it comes to the first couple of questions, it can be a big benefit that you already know those things about her. That means you can ask her to elaborate on those things that she's already told you. This is a great time for her to see that you were listening to her when ya'll originally got together too. For example, if she had told you she is a hairdresser, when you are doing the interview, you could say something like, I know that you said you are a hairdresser, so tell me more about that. How long have you been doing it? Do you enjoy it? etc.. This is a benefit because now you can get down more to the "nitty gritty". You can find out what makes her tick and then that will help you and her to see if things that she says can relate to Mary Kay in some way; If this would be a good fit for her. Sometimes the things that she says while ya'll are talking will help her see her potential in MK, without you having to say it. The other thing that is needed when doing an interview and asking questions, is confidence. This is something that can take time to build, but the more you do them the more confidence you will gain. 

So that leads me to another wonderful tool. My director also had me go back to listen to her marketing line since it's the one I use. I encourage each of you to go listen to the marketing line that you give others to listen to. It has been about 6-8 months since I listened to hers last, and when I went back and listened (even though I know her story pretty well, and feel like I wouldn't hear anything new) I felt as though it just brought back my original thoughts, and excitement. For me, its the thoughts and excitement of bringing others into this wonderful business and opportunity, while seeing such a potential for myself through all of that. Don't get me wrong, I have a crazy passion for what I'm doing, there is no doubt, I love it and God has shown me in so many ways that this is exactly where He wants me, but something about listening to that marketing line again, really spoke to me. I could probably listen to someone else's hotline/story, and I'd find some new passion/excitement that was just brought back as well. So again, I encourage you to listen to the marketing hotline that you give potential recruits. I challenge you to listen to it without any distractions and let it speak to you, and at the very least, the words spoken will be fresh on your mind.

My interviews yesterday went okay. I have scheduled a time in several months to talk to the first one again, and the second one is just not interested, and that's okay. It's not for everyone. 

Today is a brand new day! I am so excited because I will be a director this year!!!

Sassy Saturday

Saturday I did a total of 6 more facials! I made a 2nd appointment for one group of ladies and their friends and I got some new referrals. I also setup 3 phone interviews. I had $117 in sales for the day and overall the day went good. Sunday was my family day, and that evening my son got sick all over me 4 times! So, needless to say, today has been a recovery day for him, with me not doing any work besides 2 interviews. Thankfully my director was able to do a three way and once I got the conversation started, I muted my end so they couldn't hear my son in the background, and for the next one he will be sleeping.

I will let you know how my interviews went tomorrow and I can't wait to get busy with some work. I'm looking forward to getting some stuff done tomorrow for my business!

Valentine's Day

I hope you all had a wonderful Valentine's Day! I did a delivery yesterday and tried to relax with my husband and son. I decided that I'd catch ya'll up on my Thursday results today. God has really been working in me to change me, and I'm thinking patience and fully trusting Him in every aspect of my life are just a couple of the things He is teaching me right now.

Thursday, I got 2 new bookings and a new team member!! I was so excited to have this woman be a part of our team, because she has heart and a passion that is so sincere. I also had a facial at 3pm and a party at 6pm. This is one of the areas that I'm having trouble with, because I feel as though my $ per face average is probably lower than I care to announce. (I just figured a rough average and it's around $15 per face from this month's facials.)  Yikes! So, I have discussed this with my director a bit already and even before discussing it with her I started praying. I'm already an emotional, hormonal mess right now being in my first trimester(I completely understand why they say not to make a pregnant woman upset), however, after I left my most recent party, I felt so defeated and on the way home I just started crying out to God.  I immediately felt like God has plans for me that don't involve continuing down the path of referrals that I currently have. Maybe not using any of the referrals that I have right now. Of course, I recently got the leads from the day care, and I felt like that is the path I need to follow; using those leads and getting new leads.

Today I have several facials and a party this evening, so I'll let ya'll know how those go tomorrow.  I just encourage you as Mary Kay has encouraged me, without even being here, remember that "People fall forward to success." -Mary Kay Ash     "You cannot keep a determined person from success. Wednesday's Results!

9 Weeks
Whew, yesterday was so busy, which sure made the day fly by, and it also ended with good results. We had our first sonogram yesterday, which was awesome!

Then my husband and I got flowers, and as soon as I got home I started attaching my business cards to them, getting my gift basket ready, and getting myself ready too. We accomplished a lot in a little amount of time. Then I got to the daycare, got setup, and got busy. When I got home, I counted and I have 27 new leads now. Plus, I booked a referral from the other day. So 27 new leads plus 1 new booking.  

Today I already have great results that I am excited to share with you, but I'll wait until tomorrow when I talk about how my entire day went. I have a facial at 3pm and a party at 6pm. So I have to go get busy on my 4 hour plan for today.

Tuesday's Results!!!

I finished up yesterday working a total of 5 hours and 30 minutes! Now I bet that brings about your curiosity as to what results came from all that. So, remember how recently I've run out of referrals? Well, I've been booking a few referrals that I had somehow missed and then working on getting new ones as well. I recently heard about getting referrals from day cares. Let me explain for those who have not heard of this, or maybe as a refresher. 

When you are needing new leads, contact some day cares/private schools and ask:

May I speak to the director?
If not she isn't in: When will she be available so I can call back?
Hello, my name is Amy, and I'm a consultant with Mary Kay, and I'm looking to do a community outreach. I'd like to honor working women and how I want to do that is I would like to set up a little table at your day care and hand a carnation out to eat child for their mother to take home and I also want to do a spa gift basket drawing worth $100 for them to enter to win if they want to. So I just wanted to see if we can schedule a time for me to come do that?
Call around 10/11am and not on Friday. 
Best hours for you to come are typically during pickup....about 4-6:15.
Dont forget to ask about how many parents they expect so you will b prepared with enough flowers.
Attach your business card with a ribbon to the carnation. When mom comes in, you give a carnation and 
say" I have a flower for you because you work so hard."... And then, "and I'm doing drawing for a $100 spa gift basket and mk pampering session if you would like to enter to win".. When dad picks up the child... wait for the dad to pick up the child and then say .." Would you like a flower to take home for your mommy" " I'm also doing a drawing for a pampering session and products if you'd like to enter your wife"
Use enter to win forms : pink forms for the moms and white for the dad's so that when you call back you know what to say.

I used this idea to start contacting day cares yesterday to schedule a time for me to come by and because I am in such need of new referrals, I was even able to schedule a day care for today! I originally was not going to schedule for a Wednesday because I didn't want to miss church, however, I looked at my schedule again and I won't be missing church, I'll just be headed straight to church afterwards. So I scheduled 3 different day cares, one for today and the other two for next week, and I am so excited! 


I also got 3 new bookings for facials/parties yesterday! I've been following up with customers, but I've not had as many to contact lately, so I haven't been receiving as much in reorder sales. My week is looking crazier and crazier on my calendar.  Today I will not have any time for working my 4 hour plan. Me and my husband will be going in for our first sonogram today, which is super exciting and then I have to go get carnations, and borrow a table from my director for the day care event today. I also have to get business cards attached to the flowers and get all the forms printed, make up a gift basket and the list kinda seems to go on a bit. It will be so worth it though when I'm booking these ladies and getting sales, team members, and enriching their lives. I can't wait to let you know how today goes, but for now I'm signing off to go get busy busy busy!

Monday 2.10.14

Valentines Day is so close! It's only 3 more days away and I want to encourage anyone who has not talked to the guys they know and customer's husbands to do so today while you still have time.

Well, yesterday was a bit of a curve ball and although I tried to dodge it, I was unable to complete more than 1 hour of my plan yesterday. However, I have a plan for today that will make up for it. I did 1 hour of finding new leads to book and I have those ready and prepared for today. I have planned out my day so I will actually do 1-2 additional hours today to make up for yesterday.

I feel confident that I will not allow anything to get in my way today, and I look forward to sharing how I overcame yesterdays obstacle with today's plan.

Sunday

Happy Sunday to everyone! So how did yesterday's facials go? Well, I had several appointments setup, but let's just say that there were some cancellations and some rescheduled. I know that's expected as it is with doctors and dentists, and you can choose to let those things get you down, or you can view it as... not being the ones that God needed me in front of right now. I chose to leave it in God's hands and just praise Him, because He has a plan.

Now, the good news..... those cancellations were just for the first few appointments of the day! So I still had a 6 pm appointment for 6 ladies that live an hour from me. I got my things ready to go down there, and on my way I prayed for God to have His will be done there at that party. I wound up with 63 new referrals, $109 in sales, and I got a new booking. It was lot's of fun and I left there praising God for a good day!

So, I want to take a moment to thank everyone who has been reading my journals. I have been so blessed by all of you, and this has been such an encouragement. I look forward to all the new things I will learn through being consistent in the 4 hour plan and keeping this journal updated.

Saturday Woo Hoo!

I'm so excited that today is Saturday because that means facials all day today! I have them scheduled at 10am, 1pm, and 6pm. I'm foreseeing coming home tonight, washing my face, and hitting the bed. There isn't even scheduled time for eating in there. Oops, oh well, I'll make it happen. That's why I am writing my journal so much earlier this morning, so I can start getting ready for my facials.

Alright, yesterday was a fabulous day! I worked my 4 hours and wow did it show! During the hour of customer service calls I decided to contact guys in my phone to see if they needed a Valentine's Day gift for their special ladies. I simply text messaged them (because my son would have been screaming in the background if I had called) and said, "Hey Bob! I'm working towards a big Mary Kay goal and I wanted to see if you already have something special for (ur special lady/Jane) making her feel SUPER SPECIAL for Valentines Day or if you would like some help with that?!!! :-)" I got a few guys that were interested, and to think if I had never texted them, that would have been money left on the table. So I wound up with $210 in sales yesterday!

Then in my hours of booking parties/facials and interviews I got 5 new bookings! Part of those bookings were just people who had responded to me from prior days, which meant, I was still getting results from prior days work. That's a great feeling. So, today there will be no time for any of the 4 hour plan, it will only be facials all day, but tomorrow I will journal about how the facials went.

It's Friday!

Happy Friday! This means that the weekend is fastly approaching.  For me that means facials all day tomorrow and that's exciting! Yesterday it snowed here in Rowlett, TX and we get snow maybe once a year, so when it snows we are not prepared the same way as others who get snow more often.  That typically means people don't get out as much, which can be used as an advantage for booking. So yesterday my husband and my 2 1/2 year old were at home all day. I started the day by letting my husband know my work plans, that way I could get his help in making that happen. Our little boy keeps us pretty busy, but I assume that's true for most little boys. 

I did a total of two hours of the plan yesterday and I just broke it down so I did 30 minutes of each part of the 4 hour plan.  I made 4 new bookings, plus I still have people texting me that I will respond to as soon as I start my work day. The flexibility that this business gives me is always showing me new ways that I love it even more! I was able to let the texts keep coming when I finished my work and allow my focus to be on my family. I just ignored the texts and I'll look at them today when I begin working. 

Although this was not a typical '4 hour plan' work day for me, it still brought me results. Today there is still plenty of snow on the ground and it's pretty slippery in places, however I will be working while my son takes his nap today and then once my husband gets home I'll finish it up. 

I know many women wonder how to work this plan when they have run out of referrals/leads. Tammy even discusses that topic on her 4 Hour Plan. She says to work the leads that you do have first, then get out the door and meet new people, getting new leads, for the rest of the hour. She even discusses calling existing customers and booking them again, and asking existing customers for referrals. The reason that I bring that up today is because I have gone through all of my referrals until I get more from my facials tomorrow.  That means that I will be doing these things during my booking hour today. 

Everyday that I continue to work this plan I am finding myself not only doing more in my business than ever before, but I am truly taking care of every aspect of my business. I've always been good at booking, when I'm actually doing it, and I was even pretty good about booking interviews at least once a month, or at the parties. That still left coaching and customer service calls though, and those are just as important. This 4 hour plan is what I needed in order to do my business and do it right! 

Well, I'm off to go make this day another step towards directorship!

!!Thursday!!

Wow, what a day it was yesterday! Where do I begin? Well, I did the full 4 hours yesterday and can I just say that it shows in the numbers! Even though there are days where I don't do the full 4 hours and maybe I break it into 1 or 2 hours, it still gets me results, but boy it's wonderful to see the results from 4 hours!

So I'm going to leave you hanging for just a minute while I tell you that I have noticed that different days yield different results. Sometimes it because of the people you are calling/texting to book, sometimes maybe it's just because the customers that you are calling that day to service still have enough product, but overall consistency will show you the results that are discussed in Tammy's plan. Now, isn't that exciting!?


Ok, so now for the results of my day. I have eight new bookings from yesterday. 1 for our success meeting, 2 parties with 4+ at their houses, and the rest are for our studio with at least 1-2 friends coming with them. It's funny, because as I was booking yesterday I actually forgot to count and I had to go back through all my new bookings on my calendar to count them up this morning. That is a great problem to have though. I also had a customer reorder from me yesterday. When she was texting me what she needed, she was only a few dollars away from 40 which meant she could get a Free Gift With Purchase if she found one more thing to add, so I explained that to her and she is deciding what else she needs so she can get her free gift. So let's just say it's at least a $40 sale.

Yesterday, while I was working hour three, my husband came home for lunch, I stopped my time, and had a nice lunch with him. This is one example of the wonderful flexibility that this business offers me. Now, I must say that there are times that we must choose to keep the commitment to ourselves to complete our work for the day by choosing not to do something. My example of that yesterday comes from my husband being here for lunch, which got me sitting and relaxing, and then (due to pregnancy) I became really tired. I could have fallen asleep in a minute of laying down. However, I chose to start back up in my third hour and get it completed so that by the time 7pm came around I'd already be done so I could attend church. I told myself, that if I had time to take a nap once I was done, then I would, but good thing I chose to do it that way, because I didn't have time to take a nap. Overall, I was happy with my results! Directorship, here I come!!

What an awesome day! It feels so wonderful to end the day that way, and I will be doing it again today.

~Wednesday~

It is Wednesday and I just gotta tell you about yesterday's work so I can start my plan for today!

Yesterday was fun because instead of doing my hour of scheduling interviews, I was actually doing an interview! I have done 4 in the past 8 days, which is good, but I plan to do way more this month. So this morning to top it all off, I got a text from someone that I had tried to schedule for an interview a couple of days ago, and she said she is available today. So I'll actually be doing that interview in about 30 minutes, which means I gotta hurry to finish this journal entry. Yesterday's interview went well, and I'll be following up with her on Sunday to get her final decision. 

While booking I also made one new appointment. I only spent approximately 2 hours total on my work yesterday, besides my success meeting last night, and I'm still seeing results!!

I look forward to today's results and I can't wait to share!

February!


Happy February! This is GO time! Yesterday I spent 2 hours doing all the tasks from the 4 hour plan. I had spent a big portion of my day with my son and just thinking about working, but then I decided to get off my butt and get busy, even if there was only a couple of hours left that I could work with. This makes me think of a thought provoking phrase that I heard today, "What got you here, will not take you there." Isn't that powerful? This is another reason to change what I am doing. I will not give up, because as long as I continue pushing forward, God will make this dream, that He has placed in my heart, a reality.

So yesterday I contacted several women that I have done facials with recently, to setup phone inner-views. I have one new one setup for today and she will be listening to my director's marketing line before we talk. I also followed up with several ladies who have recently purchased from me, just to check on them and their product. Finally, I contacted quite a few referrals to get bookings, and obtained 1 new booking from that. For only working two hours yesterday, I felt as though that was pretty good.

So as I look at what's ahead for today, I see wonderful results coming my way that will catapult me into the next level!
